Scientific Climate Ratings Newsletter.
Issue 1, January – February 2026Scientific Climate Ratings, An EDHEC Venture

Climate risk is widely recognised but has long been hard to compare and rarely integrated into asset pricing or valuation. For decades, it was discussed primarily as an externality, a narrative, or a disclosure exercise. As climate-related events and their financial impacts become more frequent and more material, this approach is no longer sufficient. For the first time, with Scientific Climate Ratings, physical and transition climate risks can be expressed at the level where capital is actually allocated: assets, their cash flows, and their valuation. Backed by a team of climatologists and financial modellers, our mission is to guide capital toward a more resilient and sustainable future by transforming climate science into forward-looking financial insights that are comparable, actionable, and directly usable in financial analysis. We are proud to share the first issue of our newsletter and invite you to join us on this journey.

Cover - Climate Risk Ratings (CRR)
Climate Risk Ratings (CRR) is a new standard for measuring the financial materiality of climate change across both physical and transition risks. Expressed as a percentage impact on Net Asset Value (NAV) and a letter-grade rating, CRR covers physical risks such as floods, storms, wildfires and heatwaves, as well as transition risks including carbon costs and market shifts. Ratings are scenario-based, spanning the 2035 and 2050 horizons, and account for asset-specific adaptation and decarbonisation strategies. Currently applied to over 450 infrastructure assets, CRR coverage will soon extend to listed equities.
